Fire that big sissy!
He was a twirp from the get go..He acted like the kid was a dog that needed trained to not crap on the floor, but the 'other woman' was in it for herself only.. Mom should have put her foot down immediately and told dad if he even thinks about cheating on her it'll be curtains then and there.. The heck with separation!
To bad these movies almost always have the Pollyanna ending with mummy and daddy getting back together and live happily ever after like in the fairy tails.. Sounds all peachy creamy, but almost never works that way. Once i stop trusting someone I never head back hoping for change in them. Tigers and Zebras never change their stripes and neither do people who cheat on their spouses... OK flick though.. Cute kid, but the dialog was far to advanced for a child of that age....and the racism..Calling the black kid Snowball? That was blatant tokenism if i ever saw it.
And katpooh..maudlin is OK.. i like maudlin as long as you don't over do it.. :o)

Good movie to watch
The title does not match the contents. It's not about "the youth of tomorrow", it's about one small boy whose father doesn't seem quite man enough to kick the other woman out of his life. And for the life of me, I don't know what he saw in her that he should do that to his wife and his son. There are cute aspects of the movie without being maudlin.

Lamont was a great comedic director, Frances the talking mule, Ma and Pa Kettle, Abbott and Costello, and many many more.
He should have stayed away from anything semi-serious, like this movie.
What does the title mean? Did he think this is where youth is headed? Then he had no idea about the drug culture or the rise of gangs. If youth had turned out like this cute little tyke we'd all be better off.
This was a rather unusual film for itÂs time period, covering divorce and all, but gets bogged down somewhat sidetracked in the ÂAwww! Look how cute the kid is, and look what shenanigans heÂs up to now! theme it takes in the middle.
A society wife finds his husband getting into a car with the atypical Âother womanÂ, the woman takes Junior far far away, with an agreement that Junior will spend 6 months at each of his parentÂs place. Now, at this point itÂs actually a riveting drama, a kid town between his two parents! Mom is just barely making it with his son! But when he returns to his FatherÂs well-to-do place, well, the whole thing almost becomes Annie, with the cute tyke getting a comedic relief tutor, and the kid gets up to no-good running away to play baseball.. that kid is just too darn cute!! It somewhat turns around when the kid falls off a wall, and has Âspinal injuries (read: a light fever) forcing his Mother to come back to visit Father. They start to reconcile.. problem is, the mistress is still in the fatherÂs lifeÂ
This is actually well acted, with the lead kid actor doing quite the capable job with the adults in the film. The main problem with this film as I said before, is that this doesnÂt know which direction it wants to go, which hinders the film considerably.
